- The officially recommended way is to move the activation from the original Master Disk to a second floppy disk. This new floppy is then usually called an “activation disk”. The basic idea is that you can now plug the new “activation disk” into whichever computer you want to use and the RSLogix software will go ahead and run.
- At that time, well over half of the external floppy drives available for these laptops absolutely WOULD NOT READ a Master Disk. After many calls to tech support, we discovered that the USB powered floppy drives would not read the Master Disks because the way that Rockwell 'hides' the activation key.

'RSLinx activation' | |
I have a licensed version of RSLinx Gateway running on my machine. I lost the master floppy disk. The license was bought from an AB distributor long closed and the license is in the distributor's name. How can I transfer the activation key from my machine to another machine, assuming that both machines CANNOT BE NETWORKED? I know it is possible if the machines are networked or the hard disk of the receipient machine is connected as secondary to the machine with the activation key. I have another master disk that contained the activation key for RSLogix 5.

Everything what you need to move activation is any Rockwell master floppy. In this floppy you can find file called Evmove.exe, which is copy protection software, by AZ-Tech. Run this file and move activation of RSLinx from C:drive to A: You’ll see that on A: drive that you have 2 activation – one for RSLogic (or whatever you using) and another for RSLinx. By the way – I believe that making a BACKUP COPY from this floppy is absolutely legal. AZ-Tech using specially formatted sectors (8912 bits) to prevent duplication of the floppy. Modern Dupe programs like WinImage can copy floppy at any existing format.

Hi Gennady, thanks for the reply, but you are wrong in saying that any Master disk can be used to move the activation keys. I am reproducing below a part of the help file
